Montreal was buzzing with plenty of conference action last week – and we were happy to be a part of it. At the beginning of last week, we attended NANOG 65, where our CEO Aaron Hughes spoke. On Thursday and Friday, ARIN 36 Public Policy and Members Meeting was held in the same location as NANOG 65, at the historic Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth Hotel. Many folks attended both conferences and they each provided valuable insight from industry thought leaders.
Day one of ARIN 36 was focused on policy discussions and the depletion of IPv4. We also heard from the most recent Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) about IPv6 activities and were given an update on the IANA stewardship transition process.
Day one of ARIN 36 also happened to coincide with National Poetry Day. We got in on the fun, as did a couple of other folks attending the conference.
The second day of ARIN 36 began with many discussions of public policy, then we moved right into the Members Meeting in the afternoon. We heard from the Number Resource Organization (NRO) and ARIN Registration Services and Engineering departments. We heard an Advisory Council report, a financial report, and a Board of Trustees report. Both days were packed with valuable information and plenty of open dialogue.
With the wrap up of ARIN 36, we are already looking forward to their next conferences including:
- ARIN Public Policy Consultation at NANOG 66
- February 2016 – San Diego, California
- ARIN 37 Public Policy and Members Meeting
- April 2016 – Montego Bay, Jamaica
Thank you to ARIN for hosting another excellent event!
